Russia, Republic of Karelia, Petrozavodsk, Shotman St., 7

About the company:

In January 1995, when the post office of Petrozavodsk in Karelia was 210 years old, it was decided to open the Postal Museum of the Republic of Karelia. It is located in a building built in the early XX century, to be more precise in 1930.

During the Second World War, the house was destroyed, but rebuilt in the 50s of the twentieth century under the leadership of the Soviet architect Andreev L. K.

Restoration and restoration of the dilapidated building was carried out on the old foundation and the ruins of the walls, so it does not differ from the original plan of the designers.

The museum has several rooms: History of the Russian post office, History of the post office in Petrozavodsk, History of the post office of Karelia, Post during the war.

The basis of the museum collection includes exhibits that were collected bit by bit from all post offices of the Republic of Karelia, documents, photographs. Many items donated by residents of the city, as well as veterans of the post office. These are all kinds of cash registers, stamp machines, vending machines for the sale of newspapers and postcards, mailboxes of different times, uniforms of postal employees, postal sleighs with bells for post horses.

On the basis of the museum, a friendship society was organized between the postal workers of Tubingen and the philatelist club.
