Ivanovskoye Estate
Podolsk, Podolsky district, street. Park, 1
Description:
The Ivanovo estate is located in the city of Podolsk, on the banks of the Pakhra River. The first mention of the patrimonial possession of Ivanovskoe in the scribe books dates back to 1627. Then it was owned by Vasily Yelchaninov and Alexei and Ivan Golovin. The estate has repeatedly changed owners. It was owned by F. A. Tolstoy, a cousin of L. N. Tolstoy, then his daughter, A. F. Zakrevskaya. Under Zakrevsky in Ivanovo there was an active secular life: here were the poet D.V. Davydov, General A.P. Ermolov and many others. The last owners of the estate were industrialists of Bakhrushina. In 1917, the Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies was located in the estate. From 1919 until the 1980s, there was a hostel in the premises of the estate.
In 1960, the Ivanovo estate was awarded the status of an architectural monument. In the 1970s, its restoration began. Currently, the restored main house of the estate houses the Federal Museum of Professional Education and the Podilsk Museum of Local History.
The main house of the estate is a stone three-storey palace in the style of Russian classicism with two outbuildings. The palace was built under F.A. Tolstoy, who owned the estate since the end of the XVIII century. He also built a greenhouse with a theater hall. Under Zakrevsky the third floor was added to the house, the house received two-storey side wings, and the wings became two-storey and were connected to the house. Currently, one of the park pavilions, the ruins of the theater, as well as the fencing of the grand courtyard have been preserved from the estate buildings.
