The Red Manor

Podolsky district, Moscow region, 2 km. from pos. Red Pahra

Description:

The Krasnoe estate, located in the Podolsky district of the Moscow region, was founded in the early XVII century. It was owned by Cherkasy, Miloslavsky, Tsarevich Alexander Archilovich of the Bagratid family. The father of the prince, the Georgian king Archil Vakhtangovich, is considered the founder of the church of John the Theologian built in 1706. From 1756 to 1762, the landowner D.N. Saltykova, known for her cruelty, lived here, which went down in history under the nickname Saltychikh. After 1801, the estate was owned by Princes Saltykov.

Currently, the manor house, the Church of John the Theologian, a park and a pond have been preserved from the estate. The manor house and outbuilding in the middle of the XIX century underwent a major restructuring. The brick church had a southern aisle and refectory. In the XIX century, a northern chapel and an Empire-style porch with two bell towers were added to it. These days, only the lower tiers remain from the bell towers. Of all the buildings, only the church is open to the public. The regular park of bicentennial lindens with an area of 4.5 hectares is in a neglected state. A small round pond is a decoration of the park.
