G.V.Ksenofontov Museum of Local Lore

The museum house opened in 1962. In the years of Soviet power, the museum told about the life and activities of S. Ordzhonikidze, whose name was the district.

Since 1992, the museum was renamed into the Museum of Local Lore named after G.V.Ksenofontov - the first Yakut historian, ethnographer, folklorist, repressed and shot in 1939.

The exposition tells about the life and activities of the scientist, about the ethnography and history of the ulus, the archaeological excavations of the ancient Paleolithic Dirin-Yurekh, about the life and folklore of Russian peasants-Yamers, about the royal exile and Stalin’s repressions in the ulus, about the first president of the republic M.E. Nikolaev.

The museum is located in the central part of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where there is a tourist route to the sights of central Yakutia.
