Excursion to the Pskov-Pechersk monastery and Izborsk fortress

A car tour of the suburbs of Pskov. We will visit the famous Pskov-Pechersk monastery and the ancient Izborsk fortress.

The Pskov-Pechersk Monastery of the XV century is the only monastery in Russia that has been continuously serving since 1473. We will start our acquaintance with the monastery from the panoramic platform, which offers a magnificent view of the fortress walls and domes of the Assumption Cathedral. And then, we will enter the monastery walls, get acquainted with the architectural ensemble of the Pskov-Pechersk monastery, learn about its history and the history of the monks who connected their lives with the monastery.

Girls to visit the Pskov-Pechersk monastery must have a covering on their head. Also do not forget to bring a camera, empty bottles (in Pechora you can get holy water in the monastery well), money for souvenirs.

Attention! The distant caves are the resting place of the monastery brethren. In the caves there is its own microclimate, the violation of which affects the state of sandstone, increases humidity, so access there is limited. On Monday and Friday, the caves are closed. From January 6 to 8, and from August 26 to August 29, the caves built by God are closed! On other days, visiting distant caves is possible only by independent pre-registration. Just 20 kilometers from Pechora, on the territory of the delightfully beautiful Izborsk-Maly valley, there is another pearl of the Pskov land - Izborsk fortress of the XIV century. As part of the excursion, we will climb to Truvorovo settlement (the place of settlement of the first Izboryans), visit the fortress of the XIV century, walk along its war course, climb the tower with the ridiculous name "Lukovka", admire the Slovenian keys and white swans, which proudly cut through the surface of Gorodischensky Lake.
