Excursion to Veliky Novgorod from Pskov

Veliky Novgorod is one of the oldest cities in Russia and the closest neighbor of Pskov (the city is separated by only 220 kilometers). But, despite the close proximity, the cities were able to rebuild completely different from each other. Each city has its own building principle, its own church school of architecture and its own elusive charm. Our tour is an opportunity to see for yourself.

PROGRAMME:

09:00–13:00 – moving to Veliky Novgorod (210 km). Track tour.

13:00–14:00 – excursion to the Museum of Wooden Architecture “Vitoslavlitsa”.

"Vitoslavlitsy" - one of the most interesting museums of folk wooden architecture - is located 4 kilometers from Veliky Novgorod, in a picturesque area on the shore of Lake Myachino near the Yuriev Monastery. The museum is located on the territory of the former noble estate of Semevsky - A. A. Orlova-Chesmenskaya (the first half of the XIX century), better known as the "Orlov manor". Now the museum contains the best preserved samples of folk wooden architecture. Among them are typical peasant estates, a village forge and stable, a barn and a bath, wooden temples and a bell tower.

14:30-15:30 – lunch in a cafe in the city center.

15:30–17:30 – Theatrical tour of the Novgorod Kremlin and Yaroslav Palace.

You will hear about the deeds of Vladimir Krasna Sunny, Yaroslav, the son of his elder, called the Wise, Alexander Yaroslavich Khorobroy, nicknamed by the descendants of Nevsky, Tsar Ivan the Great, and his grandson, the Terrible Tsar. You will see past deeds from the history of our Russia and the Great Novograd that happened hundreds of years ago.

Objects of the show: St. Sophia Cathedral, the bell tower of St. Sophia Cathedral, the monument "Millennium of Russia", Vladychny Dvor, temples of the XII-XV centuries, Novgorod Print, Hanseatic fountain.

17:30-20:00 – free time in the city center.

20:00 – departure to Pskov

00:00 – Oriental arrival in Pskov
