The legend of the founding of Pskov, and as an ordinary girl became the Grand Duchess of Kiev. The story about the city of Ensk, which was the prototype of Pskov in the novel by V. Kaverin “Two Captains”. And the mystery - who are the scobars - provincial ignorant or skilled blacksmiths?

  • Monument to Prince Alexander Nevsky on Mount Sokolikha – you will find yourself in a place where you can see a panoramic view of most of the city, you will feel quite tiny near the majestic figures of Prince Alexander Nevsky and his squad. Get answers to the main questions about the famous Ice Battle.
  • Olginsky chapel is a place of attraction for all tourists, a place where, according to legend, a thousand years ago, Princess Olga predicted the glory of Pskov. A textbook view of the Pskov Crome will open before you and the inscription, which has already become famous, "Russia begins here."

Then you will go to Izborsk – “Pskov suburb”, located 30 km from Pskov. The history of the Russian state began here, legendary deeds and events of national significance took place here. The fortress city withstood so many attacks, spent so many days and nights under siege that it is not without reason that it is called in written sources the “Iron City”. It is in Izborsk that Pskov history is perceived unusually acutely, and the fortress walls vividly remind of distant events that worried the medieval world. All the antiquity and beauty you will see walking along the Truvorov settlement, Zheravie Hill with a fortress of the 14th century, go down to the springs with living water - the Slovenian keys, visit the ancient Nikolsky temple and walk through a secret hole to the water, which was used by the defenders of the fortress hundreds of years ago. You will hear ancient legends and legends, you will learn, “where did the Russian Land come from”, why Gorodischenskoye Lake is called a swan, and landscapes – Roerichovsky.

And our journey will end at the very border of Russia, where there is a small town - Pechora, which happened to become the center of the spiritual life of Russia, concentrated in the Pskov-Pechersk Monastery, in a monastery that traces its history since 1473 and never closed its doors. No photo can convey the greatness and beauty that you will see with your own eyes. The Pskov-Pechersk monastery is like a city in a city: there are elevated temples, and underground caves, and the power of the fortress walls with views of the endless expanses of the Pskov land.

After visiting the monastery, you will learn why it is located in a ravine, for which a powerful military fortress was built around the monastery in the 16th century, who are the elders and why they are the main treasure of the monastery. And most importantly, you will understand that the Holy Dormition Pskov Caves Monastery is the Heavenly Gate for everyone: for monks living in the monastery, pilgrims and tourists.

**Distant caves are the resting place of the monastery brethren. In the caves there is its own microclimate, the violation of which affects the state of sandstone, increases humidity, so access there is limited. On Monday and Friday, the caves are closed.
