Izborsk - Iron City!

Izborsk, one of the oldest cities of Russia and at the same time one of its most valiant fortresses, so many times withstood the onslaught of numerous enemies. And at the same time it is an amazingly picturesque corner of nature, which has preserved its pristine beauty to this day!

Izborsk was first mentioned in the chronicle in 862. Since that time, how many events has experienced this corner of the Pskov land, located only 30 km from the Pskov.

The Izborsk fortress of the XIV century, built on Zheravia Hill, still retains the power, strength, valor with which it and its soldiers defended the border of the Pskov land and the north-western borders of the Russian land.

Once in the Izborsk fortress, you can walk along the battle course and feel like warriors of those times. You will climb to the observation deck of the Lukovka Tower, from the height of which you will admire the stunning beauty of the Izborsko-Maly valley, a protected place. Exploring the fortress, you can visit the powder cellar, and walk along the secret passage to the water and find out what the secret hole was intended for.

We will be able to visit the main temple of the Izborsk land - St. Nicholas Cathedral, XIV century, which stores the revered shrines of Izborsk.
