"Here he is, good old Pskov!"!

Pskov is one of the oldest cities in Russia with a centuries-old valiant military history and an Orthodox one. During the tour of my native and beloved Pskov, I will take you through its picturesque streets, tell you about the birth of Pskov and its further history of the border and trading city.

We will visit the heart of Pskov - in the Kremlin, and you will find out why Pskov people call him Krom. We will get acquainted with the fascinating history of the life of the most famous Pskov prince Dovmont - Timofey and visit the Dovmontov city named after him. We will see the most powerful wall of the Pskov fortress - Percy. We will go through the Zahab and find out that this was the name of traps in the fortresses. Passing the Veche Square, we remember the fascinating history of the Dominion of Pskov. We will visit the main temple of our city - the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, where you will admire the magnificent seven-tiered iconostasis, learn the history of especially revered Pskov icons.

We will visit the Olga Chapel to admire the Pskov Crom from the opposite left bank of the Great River. And you will learn that this part of Pskov is called the Velichny. And then we will go to Zapskov region to enjoy Pskov architecture, listen to the “Pskov song in stone”, and therefore touch the life of the Pskov people of past times, because it is in architecture that the life of the people is embodied.

Once in the Pokrovsky corner of the medieval city of Pskov, we will recall the facts of the most fierce siege of the city by the Polish king Stefan Batory and learn how this siege was later assessed by Nikolai Mikhailovich Karamzin in his History of the Russian State. It was in this place that the miraculous appearance of the face of the Mother of God occurred, which I will tell you about, after which we will find ourselves in the Twin Temples.

The Pskov fortress is one of the largest in Russia and we will not just see the plan of the fortress on the map, but will pass along the fortress walls and you will be amazed at how huge Pskov was already at the turn of the XV - XVI centuries.

There are many interesting things waiting for you in Pskov: The rattle tower, the most mysterious in the Pskov fortress, the Pogankins and Menshikov chambers, the chambers of the merchant Podznoev, the chambers of the Postnikovs, the monument to Princess Olga, the house of the merchant Meir, the monument to Alexander Nevsky on the Sokolikh mountain and much more...
