I'm glad you came to visit me.

My name is Yulia Vladimirovna Taskayeva.

I am a linguist (Russian and English), an English teacher, a professional accredited tour guide, a local historian and an enthusiastic researcher of remote Pskov corners, a lover of antiquity, museums and an eternal seeker of living witnesses to the history of my land.

I am not a Pskovite, but the generous and beautiful Pskov Land has become my home and my small homeland.

Life, people and events have brought me to this place. My interest in history and architecture originated in St. Petersburg when I was a student at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

Lectures on ancient history and architecture, walks with teachers along the streets of St. Petersburg and acquaintance with the historical monuments of the city in Russian and English subsequently inspired further study of Western masterpieces in Europe. I was invited to Germany as an interpreter and my first city was Frankfurt. It was a shock. And then – Belgium, France, Cologne, Trier in Germany, Bruges, the United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Latvia, Jerusalem, Belarus ...

By chance, in St. Petersburg, I learned about an unusual place – the Pechora Monastery on the border with Estonia. It was after contact with the inner hidden life of the monastery that I had a strong desire to show and tell people about this place. And my wish came true, I moved to Pskov and became a tour guide. The monastery is the beginning of my professional path in a new, beloved field.

And for 15 years I have been sharing with my guests the accumulated knowledge, delight and joy that I feel every time I come to Pskov monasteries or just walk around my beloved ancient Pskov and its picturesque, incredibly fabulous suburbs.
