Upper Island
Upper Island, Pskov region, Russia
Description:
Upper Island, of the three existing islands of the archipelago, is considered the largest. Its area is 0.85 square kilometers.
The territory is occupied by a small village of Belov Island. It is in her honor that the island is sometimes called. The village got its name thanks to the commissar of the Reds I.S. Belov. About 30 people live in the village. Mostly elderly people who do not want to move to the city.
To the nearest shore from the island a few dozen kilometers. People travel by boats, barges and simple rubber boats.
Upper Island is a pleasant place to relax. The village does not occupy the entire land. There are also "wild" places where tourists often come with tents. It’s great to live on an island away from the city.
