Lake Shir
Maryinskaya volost, Strugo-Red District, Pskov Region
Description:
Not far from the village of Strugi Krasny, Pskov region, stretches one of the most beautiful jpth of this region - Shchirskoye. It covers more than 900 hectares of land, which indicates the significant size of the lake. Locals consider it one of the main attractions of the region, as it tirelessly attracts masses of tourists who want to immerse themselves in the pristine world of nature.
Shirskoe Lake belongs to the basin of the Black River, and several villages are located on its shore. This reservoir is a true paradise for fishermen, as the lake is famous for the abundance of different types of fish.
A characteristic feature of Lake Shchirsky are low and sloping wetlands, and its coast is shrouded in forest, thanks to which an inexorable pine aroma reigns around. It is worth noting that, despite its massiveness, Lake Shchirskoye is considered shallow, since its greatest depth reaches only 6 meters, and its average depth is no more than two and a half meters.
Near the lake there is a mesmerizing beauty of the Brov Botanical Park, the size of 15 hectares, on which to this day there are preserved trees planted in the second half of the XIX century by P. L. Blok, the uncle of the famous Russian poet.
