Snetogorsk monastery
Description:
The Snetogorsk Monastery, which was originally male, was built on the Sneatnaya Mountain on the Great River. Now this convent consists of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, the refectory temple of Nicholas the Wonderworker, the House of Bishops, the fence and the Holy Gate of the monastery.
The exact date of construction of the monastery is unknown, but despite this it is considered one of the oldest monasteries in the whole of Pskov - the first mention of it dates back to the XIII century.
The main temple of the monastery is the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God, built on the model of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Mirozhsky Monastery. The frescoes of the temple are the brightest example of the Pskov art school.
Liturgy is celebrated daily in the monastery.
