Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Monastery

Holy Assumption Monastery is located near Pskov, has its own special history and many shrines.

As the story tells, once one of the shepherds named Timothy appeared icons of the Mother of God. First, the phenomenon occurred at the river, and then on the mountain, which was called the Holy. At this place it was decided to build a monastery. The main shrine of the monastery is considered the icon of the Virgin.

After the revolution, the monastery was closed. The war also caused great damage, many sights suffered.

Today the monks are engaged in agriculture. Services are held in the morning and evening.

Today, the holy place is actively working, attracting pilgrims, Orthodox believers and tourists.
