Literary and Art Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War named after I.A. Vasiliev

The museum was opened on February 23, 1988 on the initiative of the writer-publicist, laureate of Lenin and state prizes of the RSFSR Ivan Afanasyevich Vasilyev. The basis of the museum was a collection of autographs, photographs, newspapers, books and other documents telling about frontline writers in the region. All these materials were collected by Ivan Afanasyevich during the years of journalistic work in the Pskov and Tver regions.

The inspection begins on the second floor, from a hall dedicated to writers and frontline artists. Here are things, documents, photographs, books, drawings of the Great Patriotic War. The next hall will acquaint you with household items of the Pskov village of the XIX and the first half of the twentieth century. Embroidered towels and tablecloths, knitted and homespun blankets, utensils made of wood and clay will tell about the skill of Pskov peasants.

The exposition “The Writer’s Cabinet” is about the life and work of the creator of the museum. On the first floor there is a spacious literary and musical living room and exhibition hall. The museum also includes the House of Ecology and Nature, which was opened on June 5, 1991, also on the initiative of the writer I.A. Vasiliev with the participation of VGSA, regional, city and district committees for environmental protection, regional VOOP.

Here the expositions are divided according to the thematic orientation: “Development of life on earth”, “Fatherland”, “Do no harm”, “Footyard”. There are two guest houses on the territory of the museum, which can be rented by prior arrangement. Lakes, pine forest, clean air and log houses are attractive for lovers of rural tourism.
