169700, Republic of Komi, Pechora, str. Soviet, 33

About the company:

The Pechora Museum of Local Lore tells about the history of the region and tracks the key moments of the fate of the region.

The history of the museum dates back to July 1969, when a group of enthusiasts led by P.I. Terentyev founded a public museum. In 1972, the group received a room, and the first exhibition opened there.

Since 1973, the museum moved into a new two-storey building, and on June 29, 1975 it opened its doors to visitors. The collection already had about three thousand units of storage. The first collections were devoted to ethnographic household items, among which were hunting and fishing tools, parts of folk costumes, photographs of the Soviet era and much more.

In 1977, the museum became a branch of the republican local history museum Komi. In 1993, the museum became independent.

Interesting exhibits are also archaeological finds, among which are the objects of the Byzov Paleolithic site.
