Brodsky's Cabinet in the Fountain House
Anna Akhmatova Museum, Fountain House, 53 Liteiny Prospect, St. Petersburg, Russia
Description:
Joseph Brodsky’s office is located in Russia. This office is located in the Fountain House, despite the fact that Brodsky himself never lived and never even visited this house. In 2003, the widow of I. Brodsky, together with the I. Brodsky Heritage Foundation, transferred all the things of the genius to the Anna Akhmatova Museum, which is located in the Fountain House. These things included a desk, a secretary, a desk lamp, a chair, a sofa, his library, and a collection of postcards.
Thanks to this act, now in the Anna Akhmatova Museum in the Fountain House you can see these things that were surrounded and personally used by Joseph Brodsky. There are also movies about Brodsky.
“Home is a place where you are not asked too many questions. No one asks them, there is no one, there is only me, – these are the words of Joseph Brodsky recited to visitors of the Brodsky Cabinet to help them feel the presence of the poet himself in the Fountain House.
