Sign church

Description:

The church is the oldest building of the Tsarskoye Selo Palace and Park Ensemble, the first stone building of the Tsarskoye Selo.

The church was founded in May 1734 and was built according to the project of I.Y. Blanca with the participation of the architect M.G. Zemtsov. During the consecration of the temple in 1747, the icon of the Sign took its place above the royal gates of the iconostasis and was in the church for almost two centuries. During the war and the occupation of the city of Pushkin, the fascists took the icon along with the museum values of the Catherine Palace. But the miraculous image returned to Russia, and since 1946 is in the church of St. Apostle Evangelist John the Theologian of the St. Petersburg Theological Academy.
