Memorial Museum-Dacha of A.S. Pushkin

st. Petersburg, St. Pushkinskaya, 2/19

About the company:

A.S. Pushkin’s dacha museum was opened in 1958 in Pushkin (formerly Tsarskoye Selo), in a one-storey (on high basements with a veranda) wooden building, which largely retained its original architectural appearance. In this house, built in 1827 by the architect V.M. Gornostaev and owned by the widow of the court valet A.K. Kitaeva, A.S. Pushkin rented eight rooms and lived here with his young wife from May to October 1831, enjoying the joys of his first family summer, communicating with friends, among whom were N.V. Gogol and V.A. Zhukovsky, conversations and disputes on literary and political topics.

Recreated from the memoirs of contemporaries, the interiors of the rooms, as well as the materials presented in the museum exposition, tell about the life and work of the poet of this period. In the mezzanine of the house, the walls of which are remembered by A.S. Pushkin, the poet’s office was recreated, where many of his masterpieces were written (“The Tale of Tsar Saltan”, “Letter of Onegin to Tatiana” and others). A special section of the exposition is devoted to the stay in Tsarskoye Selo of N.M. Karamzin and V.A. Zhukovsky, senior contemporaries and literary mentors of A.S. Pushkin.
