Sculpture "Pushkin-Lyceist"
Museum-Reserve "Mikhaylovskoye", Pushkinogorsk district, Pskov region, Russia
Description:
Pushkin-lyceum is an unusual monument to the great poet, depicting Alexander Pushkin in his youth. The sculpture is located on the territory of the Mikhailovsky Museum-Reserve, in the Pskov region.
The sculpture "Pushkin-Lyceist" is made of bronze. The most amazing thing about this monument is not even the skill of execution and expressiveness of the figure, but the personality of its author. The fact is that the monument was made by a student, sculptor Galina Dodonova, and this sculpture is her thesis. The admission committee of the St. Petersburg Art Academy noted Dodonova’s work with the highest rating, and later, in 1981, the monument took a prominent place among the sculptures of the Pushkin Memorial Museum “Mikhaylovskoye”.
The sculpture "Pushkin-Lyceist" is located in the apple orchard, in the Mikhailovsky Park, near the house where the great poet lived. Very young Alexander Sergeevich lies on the ground, as befits a resting lyceumist, and flowers grow around him. The monument is very aesthetic and always attracts special attention of museum visitors.
