The waterfall "Maiden Spits" (Chyranbashi-Suu) is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Elbrus.
He got his name for the unusual form of water flows, similar to the loose hair of a girl. Its source is one of the 23 glaciers of Elbrus - Gara Basha, which melts, forms streams of water falling from a height of 30 meters on particularly strong rocks - basalt rocks.
The waterfall is located on the southern slope of Terskol peak at an altitude of 2800 meters above sea level. A very picturesque pedestrian path leads to it. Distance in one direction 5 km, climb 600 meters.
Part of the trail passes through a coniferous forest, there are open rocky parts, where it is more difficult to go - from the scorching sun and possible rockfall. But the views are definitely worth it: the Baksan valley with its avalanche pyramids, the Donguzorun glacier, the Azau glade, the lifts on Elbrus noticeable from afar, the lush alpine herb of all colors.
When you are with a waterfall, it seems immense and captures all your attention. In addition to the amazing view, the peculiarity of the area is such that it is still impossible to talk here. The rumble of falling water and the lack of vegetation around that would drown out the sounds make any talk here useless. Nature leaves you alone. Here, on the elevation, a panorama of the royal peaks for which the Caucasus is famous opens.
The water here is really mountainous - tasty, transparent, ice even in the heat. In the heat, you can refresh yourself in the waterfall. To do this, you need to go under the waterfall through a grotto in the rock and you will find yourself as if from the inside of the stream.
After visiting the waterfall, you can return to Terskol or continue climbing to Terskol Observatory.
