In 2004, Pyatigorsk Park of Culture and Recreation named after S. M. Kirov (until 1924 - State Garden) was included in the List of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Stavropol Territory as a monument of history, landscape architecture and horticultural art.
Its history dates back to 1829, when "in order to spread gardening among residents and supply seedlings and flowers to city parks, flower beds and boulevards:" an orchard and a vegetable garden were laid in the floodplain of the Podkumok River, in the Wet Meadow area.
