Pyatigorsk

Pyatigorsk cable car

Russia

About the company:

The Pyatigorsk cable car was built in 1971. Its design is unique in that it has no supports. The distance from the starting station to the destination is 964 meters. This will take about 3 minutes. Wagons from the lower and upper stations exit simultaneously and have the same speed, since the road operates on the principle of a pendulum. Wagons are all-metal, with windows made of organic plastic, each of them can accommodate 20 people.

At the lower station of the cable car you can see Mount Mashuk, which is a symbol of the city, as it is located at the very foot of it. During the climb up, the trailer will stop 5 times, in order to have time to view the beautiful landscapes that open from a bird's eye view. From here you can see Elbrus and the chain of the Caucasus Mountains. On the slope of Mount Mashuk you will see the Lazarev Church and the old Pyatigorsk cemetery located near it.

From the upper station, located on the Mashuk summit, you will see all the surroundings. There will be views of the five-domed mountain Beshtau and the steppe, along which, writhing, the ribbon of the Podkumok river goes to Georgievsk.

The cable car works year-round, from 10am to 6pm, when traveling, be sure to dress warmer as the weather at the top can be significantly different.
