Ramenskoye

Church in honor of the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God in Bykovo

Bykovo, Ramena district of Moscow region, Russia

Description:

This rare in its originality and beauty building very organically fits into the peaceful rural landscape.

The facade of the church is decorated with paired bell towers and a staircase of white stone with an exquisitely beautiful balustrade. The building itself is divided into two temples: the upper one, which was built in honor of the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God and the lower one, the Khrybokdestvensky one, which is still active today.

Extraordinarily beautiful and the decoration of the temple in all its variety of details, which are designed in the same style of Russian Gothic, starting with the framing of the entrance, and ending with pointed spires.

The interior of the temple gravitates to the classical style: four column compartments serve as a support for the vaults, and wooden carvings and artificial marble prevail in the interior decoration.

In 1937 the church was closed and converted into a garment factory. However, in 1989, restoration work was carried out and the faithful were again able to attend services.
