Vladimir church

Russia, Moscow region, Ramensky district, Bykovo village, street. Kolkhoz.

Description:

The monument of Russian pseudo-Gothic can be seen in the Ramenskoye district of the Moscow region in the village of Bykovo. This is the Vladimir Church dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God. The church was built in 1789.

The architect was V.I. Bazhenov. There are versions that the architects were Kazakov or Bokarev. First in Bykov there was a wooden church, built in the XVII century, then a temple was built in the name of Christ. And later Mikhail Izmailov, who became the new owner of the Bykovo estate, decided to build the famous Vladimir Church.

The white stone temple had two floors, and on the floors there were different churches. Below is the Church of Christ, at the top is the Church of Vladimir. In 1937, the church was not only closed, but completely looted - even the crosses were removed, all valuable books disappeared. For a long time, the temple was a place for storing various goods. In 1989 he was returned to the Orthodox Diocese. The church is gradually restored, and it takes on its beautiful and unique appearance.
