In the 1990s, archaeologists discovered on top of Mount Vottovaara mysterious clusters of stones – seida. Huge boulders of different shapes and sizes are arranged in a certain order, forming intricate figures. According to one theory, these are religious buildings of the ancient Sami, who conducted mystical rites on the top of the mountain.
