Pearls of Karelia

Arrival in Petrozavodsk by morning trains (until 10:00).

Meeting with morning trains from Moscow. Group gathering from 08:50 to 09:30

Group gathering at the main entrance to the railway station. Please provide the train number and arrival time when booking the tour.
Breakfast at the restaurant.
Acquaintance with the city – sightseeing tour “From the history of Petrozavodsk”.
Transfer to the passenger port.

A trip by “meteor” to the island of Kizhi on Lake Onega.

Here in Kizhi under the open sky collected 68 monuments of traditional wooden architecture. The jewel of the museum is considered to be the 22-head Transfiguration Church with a height of 37 meters (date of construction – 1714).

A sightseeing tour of the main exposition of the museum will introduce you to:

• with the Kiga architectural ensemble, which is included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List
• with the interior of the current Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God and several peasant houses
• with the traditional peasant crafts of the north.

Return to Petrozavodsk and dinner with dishes of Karelian cuisine.

Early in the morning we leave for the city of Sortavala (~ 240 km).

Next, a trip by “meteor” to the island of Valaam on Lake Ladoga.

During the sightseeing tour, we will get acquainted with the central estate of the monastery and visit the Transfiguration Cathedral, where the relics of the founders of the monastery Herman and Sergius of Valaam rest.
Lunch is in the refectory.
Then we take a meteor to a part of the island called New Jerusalem.

Walking tour “On the Sketes of Valaam”.

We'll visit the Sunday Skete. Then look at the Gethsemane Skete and the Garden of Gethsemane. At the end of the tour, we will climb Mount Eleon, from here there are beautiful views of Lake Ladoga.

Tonight, return to Sortavala.

We visit the exhibition of the famous wood carver Kronid Gogolev.

Return to Petrozavodsk.

Breakfast. Room release.

We will spend this day in nature.
Trip to the national reserve "Kivach".

During this tour we will walk through the territory of the oldest nature reserve, see the famous Karelian birch and take beautiful photos of the waterfall. It will amaze you with its beauty, power, age-old movement of water and restraint of northern nature!

14:00 Return to Petrozavodsk.

Lunch. Free time.
Transfer to the train station. The recommended departure time is approximately after 15:00.
