Rostov-on-Don

Excursion from Rostov to Stanitsa Aksaiskaya

Description:

Stanitsa Aksai, Ust-Oksai camp, Shameful place, Kobyakovo settlement.

So many names, but it's the name of the same place. It's now the city of Aksai.

The city is a satellite of Rostov-on-Don. With a population of 44,000. It is difficult to call this trip even a country trip. The distance between the two post offices of Rostov-on-Don and Aksai is 12 kilometers. The minimum distance between two cities is less than one kilometer.

Most of the residents of Aksai work in Rostov. But Rostov residents, not to mention the guests of the city, do not even know that Aksai is only according to official data older than Rostov by almost 80 years and the city of Aksai has something to show and boast! What the millionaire Rostov-on-Don could not preserve or even did not have, is carefully stored by a small Aksai.

The hen of the well-to-do Cossack Rudukhin is the oldest surviving Aksai building. Suvorov lived there in 1783-1784. In Rostov, the house where Suvorov lived, unfortunately, has not survived.

Aksai Customs Outpost - a fortress built in the second half of the 18th century. Initially, the royal outpost was located on its territory, then customs. The thickness of the ground floor reached 10 meters, which allowed to achieve a high degree of protection from artillery shelling. The complex belongs to the fortress of Dimitri Rostov. Where can you see the walls of the fortress of Dimitri Rostov in the city of Rostov-on-Don? And in the customs outpost of the city of Aksai - a museum!

Post station where Alexander 1, Nikolai 2, Raevsky, Lev Tolstoy, A. S. Pushkin stayed. After all, the road then passed through the postal tracts, horses were changed at such post stations. The museum has preserved postal sledges, diverse carriages of those years. The museum is interesting to talk about postal rules and at the same time about the Cossack life. In Rostov, too, most likely, there was such a station on Pochtova Street (now Stanislavsky), but it also does not exist.

And, of course, another object in Aksai, which is also not in Rostov, is interesting. These are not even one, but two objects that are located in one place - on the territory of the Mukhin Balka nature reserve - the Military Historical Complex (an exhibition of military equipment under the open sky) and the underground headquarters of the North Caucasus Military District, built in case of nuclear war.

That’s how many interesting places are under the nose of Rostov residents, and they often do not know about it.

There is a saying: “He looks far, but he does not see under his nose.”

Excursion to Aksai can be considered as an independent, and can be included in a tour of Rostov or a trip to Starochersk.
