Mius-front – the frontier of military valor

The history of the Great Patriotic War, despite the past decades, continues to preserve numerous “white spots”. This is unfair to the memory of the soldiers and commanders who died defending our homeland from a powerful and dangerous enemy.
The excursion route runs along the city of Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog highway. During the tour, we will consider the fighting that took place in Rostov-on-Don and on the Mius Front line from autumn 1941 to August 1943. At the end of November 1941, the 1st Panzer Army of the Wehrmacht was forced to leave the “gates of the Caucasus” a week after their capture. However, the further offensive of the Soviet troops stopped at the approaches to Taganrog, to which they were only eight kilometers away. Here grew a powerful German defensive line, called the Mius Front after the name of the Mius River. Hitler called the Mius line “Germany’s new frontier, inviolable and inviolable.” The Mius Front broke out in August 1943. About the stubborn battles of Soviet troops, almost continuously storming the Mius Front for fifteen months in 1941/1942 and in 1943 and why the feat of our fighters was undeservedly forgotten by historians, this tour tells. People's military-historical museum complex of the Great Patriotic War "Sambek Heights" created for the 75th anniversary of the Victory. This is the largest regional memorial complex erected in the Rostov region, near the village of Sambek in honor of Soviet soldiers who fought on the Mius Front line.
The territory of the complex occupies almost 14 hectares. At the highest point in the place where there were trenches, machine-gun nests and dugouts on the outskirts of the village of Sambek stands the memorial of Glory to the Heroes of the Mius Front and the Liberation of Taganrog with the Eternal Fire. The complex includes: "Alley of Memory" - the resting place of soldiers of the Red Army, the monument to the Soviet Soldier-Victor, the River of Life, the Height of People's Memory with the sculptural composition "Cranes", the interactive platform "Breakthrough" with the technique of the belligerents and fortifications, the exposition of the museum "Don in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1943", the information and exhibition center with two halls.
