It houses the open-air ethnographic museum “The Quiet Don”, its main exhibits are the Kureni – the dwelling of the Don Cossacks, which were used in the television art series based on the novel of the same name by M.A. Sholokhov “The Quiet Don” directed by Sergei Ursuliak. Machine houses with farmsteads are recreated "one in one", made according to the most Cossack technologies of the upper Don of the beginning of the last century. The house looks like it was left by the owners for a moment. There are clothes at the entrance, shoes. Along with the original exhibits: items of clothing and everyday life present in the film, the museum repeats the exact copies of prototypes of a century ago. The time spent on the farmsteads and in the homes of the Melikhovs, Astakhovs and Korshunovs is the time of immersion in the atmosphere of Cossack life at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries.
Starozolotovsky is also attractive because it is a member of the Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Russia and is itself an open-air ethnographic museum.
