The history of the monument to the writer in Rostov-on-Don is directly connected with the appearance of the Park of Culture and Recreation in the city. The date of the beginning of the formation of the park is 1894, when the grove was planted by the decision of the city government.
In the course of historical changes, the park was reconstructed and transformed, and as a result, in the 70s of the XX century, it received its current name - in honor of Alexander Nikolaevich Ostrovsky. At the same time, a monument to the writer himself was erected at the main entrance to the park.
