The Unreturned Monument
Description:
On the M-4 highway there is one of the beautiful and symbolic monuments dedicated to the image of cranes as soldiers who did not return from the war. The monument in the people is called "Cranes", and the author's name is "The Unreturned". The author is sculptor Alexei Kharkov.
Cranes are now in a deplorable state: unknown vandals have spoiled the coating of steles to which white birds are attached. Titanium sheets ripped off, one crane stolen. The authorities are not going to repair the monument yet. They say there's no money.
On the other side of the track, opposite the cranes, stands a woman in mournful waiting for those who did not return from the war, as if numb and turned into a statue.
