Monument to Peter I
azov, Rostov region, Petrovsky Boulevard.
Description:
It is symbolic that a solemn memorial to the Russian tsar-shipbuilder was erected in Azov in honor of the three-century anniversary of the Russian Navy in 1996.
Here Peter appeared in the image of a young inexperienced commander who unleashed all the cannon power of the Russian army on the walls of the Azov fortress. Only its ramparts have survived to our days, towards which the sight of the king-monument is turned. Peter himself relies on a mortar - an artillery siege gun. His eyes are full of strength and determination to take Azov.
The statue of the tsar was made of bronze at the Mytischi factory of artistic casting. The height of the monument is 5 meters (the statue is 3 meters, the pedestal is 2 meters). It was created by a team of authors headed by Honored Artist of Russia Oleg Komov.
