Monument to Peter and Fevronia Muromsky
Description:
Russian Orthodox saints, Peter and Fevronia have become a symbol of love and loyalty in our country, they are dedicated to the corresponding holiday. Since 2011, there is a monument dedicated to these heroes in Rostov-on-Don. Now the Park of the October Revolution is a mandatory place of "pilgrimage" of newlyweds.
Peter, in an elegant caftan with a cape, holds the hand of a beautiful Fevronia with a luxurious braid, going to put her wedding ring on her finger.
According to legend, the happy event that the monument presents to us was preceded by many events. Prince Peter was sick with leprosy after a battle with a fire serpent. According to legend, in a dream, the prince learned who could save him - a simple peasant Febronia. In return, he promised to marry her, but did not keep his word. And he fell ill again, for Fevronia had prudently left one scab on the prince's body uncured. The prince returned and they were married. Their lives were not easy. In old age, they went to different monasteries, but died in the same day and in the same hour.
The legend of Peter and Fevronia, as well as their monument in Rostov-on-Don, is our Russian heritage.
