Description:

The railway drawbridge today is one of the main in Rostov-on-Don, it crossed the Don River, connecting the two banks. It is followed mainly by passenger trains. It is built in the form of an arch, consists of three spans, the middle of which rises to pass river vessels, and has two railway tracks. It acquired its modern appearance in the postwar period, and before that it had to go through a long and difficult path of reconstruction and reconstruction.

For the first time the bridge at the mouth of the river Temernik was built at the end of the XIX century. To pass ships, the average span of the bridge had to be turned so that it became parallel to the shore. It was not only uncomfortable, but also very dangerous. Often there were collisions of ships with the supports of the bridge.

The resulting inconveniences forced the government to think about the construction of a new three-span drawbridge, which was designed by engineers Brelyubsky and Prederia. The bridge was built by the professors in 1912. At that time, it was called “American”.

During the German bombing, the bridge was destroyed. In 1949, a new one was built, which is still in use today.
