Description:
Maxim Gorky Street is considered one of the main streets of Rostov-on-Don. It begins with Sivers Avenue and continues to Centsov Street. The street got its name in honor of the famous Soviet writer Alexei Gorky. It is known that he managed to visit Rostov-on-Don three times. Initially, the street was called “Seni”. A little later - at the end of the nineteenth century - it was renamed Turgenevskaya. However, the local population was against such a renaming, and it was decided to return the original name.
However, in 1936 it was decided to give it the name of Maxim Gorky.
Gorky Street has wide sidewalks and a narrow roadway. There are tram lines. There are several educational institutions at once. Next to them is one of the oldest factories in Russia - a tobacco factory.
By the way, next year the reconstruction of the street is planned. Local authorities are going to significantly expand the roadway.
