Description:

The history of the Ascension Church began in 1868, when the Rostov City Duma decided to build a chapel in 1866-67. As a result, in 1871 began the construction of a temporary temple designed by engineer Sergei Zagoskin, which was consecrated in 1878.

In May 1893, the construction of a new church was started under the project of Academician A.A. Yashchenko, which lasted for 17 years. The temple was consecrated in 1910.

During the Soviet years, the church was partially destroyed, but remained one of the four active in the city. In the 90s of the XX century, an active revival of the temple began, extensive repair and restoration work began to be carried out.
