Zonal Scientific Library of SFU

Russia, Rostov-on-Don, St. Pushkinskaya, 148.

Description:

The history of the zonal scientific library of the Southern Federal University goes back to the pre-war years. Unfortunately, most of the book treasures, consisting of rare and unique editions, were destroyed on July 12, 1942, when before the capture of Rostov-on-Don, German fascist troops staged a devastating bombing of the city.

Today, the library’s book fund has more than 600 thousand copies, among which there are educational and methodological manuals, as well as a large collection of book rarities, most of which date back to the XIX and early XX centuries. There are also some Russian magazines and newspapers of the XVIII century, foreign old-printed publications and books of the XVIII century. The library has a complete set of all publications of the Academy of Sciences, departmental journals and publications of a number of scientific communities and universities.
