Archangel
Description:
The Arkhangelsk Cathedral is a monument of ancient Russian architecture of the XV - XVII centuries, one of the oldest buildings of the Ryazan Kremlin. This is a former princely house church and at the same time a tomb of Ryazan bishops (22 burials), including a famous religious and public figure, associate of Peter the Great Stefan Yavorsky. The cathedral is a four-pillar, cross-domed, one-domed temple with three apses and three entrances. Despite a significant restructuring after the devastating fire of 1647, the cathedral retained the typical features of the architecture of the XV century. In the XIX century. to the Cathedral attached a reduced volume refectory with a lush portal in the pseudo-Russian style.
