It is assumed that the Assumption Vyshinsky Monastery was founded in the XVI-XVII centuries. It is located 25 kilometers from Shatsk in the village of Vysha, hence the name. Initially, the monastery existed as a male one.

From sources we can judge that the monastery was not famous for its wealth, so in 1724 it is attributed to the Cherneevsky Nikolsky Monastery. In 1764, it became independent again.

The shrine of the monastery is the list of the miraculous Kazan icon of the Mother of God. She was bequeathed by a nun of the Ascension Tambov Monastery of Miropia. In the name of the icon in 1831 laid a summer temple.

The Assumption Temple was built in 1861. They build a hotel, stable, almshouse, pharmacy. In the years 1874-1890 build the Cathedral of Christ, which is decorated with columns and porticoes in the style of the Ionic order.

In 1920, the Assumption Vyshinsky Monastery was closed. Since 1938, there is a psychiatric hospital, in the 60s blow up the bell tower.
