Monument to Prince Oleg Ryazansky
Description:
The monument to Prince Oleg Ryazansky is located in the center of a circular movement on the Cathedral Square of Ryazan in front of the alley that leads to the Kremlin. Its grand opening in the autumn of 2007 was timed to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the Ryazan region.
The sculptural composition is a figure of Grand Duke Oleg Ivanovich (better known as “Oleg Ryazansky”), sitting on horseback. The Grand Duke, who ruled the Ryazan principality from 1350 to 1402, holds a sword in his right hand and a helmet in his left.
There is a monument on a high pedestal, thanks to which it is visible from afar. The material from which the monument is made is bronze, and the famous Zurab Tsereteli became the sculptor.
Residents of the city of Ryazan with the deepest respect and respect treat Oleg Ryazansky. This attitude found its expression in the fact that even on the official coat of arms of the Ryazan region depicted him with a sword in his right hand, but without a horse. During his reign, Oleg Ryazansky spared neither strength nor his personal time for the strengthening and prosperity of the Ryazan land. And people’s gratitude lives in the hearts of the people to this day.
