Beach lake

Samara region, Tolyati, Komsomolsky district

Description:

The beach lake is located in the Samara region, in the Komsomol district of the city of Togliatti. The lake of artificial origin arose as a result of filling the quarry with groundwater, from which sand was extracted for construction needs. On the northern shore of the lake there are forests.

In the lake beat underground springs, the water is characterized by low temperature. Therefore, the lake is characterized by a sharp temperature difference: from 22-26 closer to the surface to 6-8 degrees at depth. The bottom of the lake is characterized by uneven relief: if closer to the shore the depth is about a meter, then at a distance of only a meter from the shore the depth already begins to reach 2.5 meters. For the device of the beach zone, the most suitable is the eastern side of the lake, characterized by a gentle sandy shore and shallow water. As a result of diving studies at the bottom of the lake, an accumulation of household garbage, fragments of concrete reinforcement, car tires and so on was revealed.

The uneven relief of the bottom, sharp temperature changes and accumulation of debris at the bottom makes swimming in this reservoir life-threatening. Swimming on the lake is prohibited, as warned by special signs installed on the banks. But despite this, about 10 people drown in Lake Beach every year.
