The historical and museum complex in the village of Shiryaevo, in which the Ilya Repin House-Museum is opened, recreates the life of a typical Volga peasant estate of the XIX century. It was here that Repin created one of his most famous paintings – “Burlaki on the Volga”.
The complex also includes the house of the poet Alexander Shiryaevets (real surname - Abramov), where objects of folk art of the XIX and XX centuries are presented. Shiryaevets branch, located in the most picturesque tourist corner of the Zhigulevsky Mountains, is a permanent platform for a variety of cultural events - from folk holidays to projects of the Shiryaev Biennale of Contemporary Art.
