About the company:

The Hermitage Theatre is located in St. Petersburg. It is located in the oldest building, part of the palace complex of the State Hermitage. This theater building was erected in 1783-1787, the facade part was completely completed in 1802. The project, in the style of ancient architecture, was created by architect J. Quarenghi. Currently, this building is recognized as an architectural monument of federal significance.

Looking at the massive building of the theater, immediately stands out a two-storey rusted part, a shallow loggia with a large order separating the lateral risalites. Especially impressive is the main room for the theater - the theater hall. The interior of the whole building is made with special luxury and wealth. For convenience, in 1988, a gallery was added from the courtyard to the building, connecting it with the State Hermitage.

The opening of the Hermitage Theatre took place on November 16, 1785, with the staging of the comic opera “Miller, Sorcerer, Liar and Matchmaker” by A. Ablesimov to music by M. Sokolovskiy. In general, the opening of this theater played an important role in the development of Russian theatrical and musical culture at the end of the XVIII century. During its existence, many famous actors performed on its stage.

Since 1992, on the 1st floor of the theater, an interesting exposition "Winter Palace of Peter I" has been opened.
