Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory

The State Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory is a unique phenomenon that has no analogues in the world. The professional theater, which has an opera and ballet troupe, an orchestra and a choir, simultaneously serves as a first-class base for the internship of students of the conservatory. 80 years of experience of this symbiosis has produced brilliant results. On the stage of the Opera Studio - the so-called theater of the Conservatory in the period from 1923 to 1988 - began to sing E.Obraztsov, I.Bogacheva, K.Izotov, Y.Marusin, E.Nesterenko, V.Atlantov, S.Leiferkus, K.Pluzhnikov, O.Borodin, E.Mravinsky, M.Yansons, Y.Temirkanov, V.Cherushenko, V.Gergiev. Here, for the first time, choreographers G. Aleksidze, B. Eifman, N. Dolgushin and directors-directors A. Kireyev, V. Charushnikov, E. Kaplan revealed their creative capabilities. In 1988, the Musical Theatre of St. Petersburg Conservatory was established on the basis of the Opera Studio, and in 1994 it received the status of the State Opera and Ballet Theatre. On its stage there are opera and ballet performances, in which both experienced professionals and aspiring artists participate.
