Date of foundation of Tsarskoye Selo on June 24, 1710 - Peter I gave the manor of Sarskaia with 13 villages to his future wife Martha Skavronskaya (Ekaterina) I. Architect Braunstein builds two-story "Stone chambers of sixteen firemen." In the reign of her daughter Elizaveta Petrovna, they turn into a grand summer residence. The works of Zemtsov, Kvasov, Chevakinsky were literally eclipsed by the great architect Rastrelli, because it was under him that the Catherine Palace became the best example of Russian Baroque.
