Tour of the Peter and Paul Fortress
Description:
Peter and Paul Fortress is a place with an indescribable aura. The breath of history begins to be felt when you cross the old wooden bridge to the Hare Island and enter the arch of massive fortress walls, as if you enter a small city in Holland or Northern Europe. This place was called St. Petersburg, and then the name passed to the whole city. Despite the fact that this is the oldest part of the city, there is perhaps no other place with which so many local history errors and stamps are associated, because even the name of the author of the project of the fortress in guidebooks is indicated differently (and often mistakenly!). Another common cliché is that the fortress quickly lost its military-strategic importance. Also very common cliché about prisons on the territory of the fortress as exclusively political. We will talk about these and other mysteries of the fortress during the tour. Of course, we visit the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the resting place of the Russian emperors, and the prison of the Trubetsk Bastion. You can also buy a single ticket, which is valid for two days and includes, in addition to the cathedral and prison, four smaller museums on the territory of the fortress. And as a free attraction - you can watch the midday shot of the gun from the Naryshkin bastion.
The price includes:
A detailed story about the construction and history of the Peter and Paul Fortress, a visit to the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the prison of the Trubetsk Bastion, a walk through the fortress with stops for photos. Tickets to the Peter and Paul Cathedral and the prison of the Trubetsk Bastion are not included.
