Kronstadt is a special city. It was built in the early XVIII century on the island of Kotlin in the Gulf of Finland as a fortress city. Tsar Peter I chose this important strategic location for the young Baltic Fleet. Until a few decades ago, it was not accessible by land, and until the 1990s there was passport control as the entire island was considered a military facility. Now it is connected to a large land by a ring road, laid along the complex of protective structures of St. Petersburg from floods (KZS).

The main attraction of Kronstadt is the Naval St. Nicholas Cathedral, built in the early 1900s. Its domes can be seen even from St. Petersburg, and the exterior design and interior decoration always amaze tourists with its grandeur and at the same time elegance. The cathedral has recently been restored. Nearby, on the square, there is a magnificent monument to Admiral Makarov, made in Art Nouveau style. It seems that the bronze waves are actually beating against a granite pedestal.

Also interesting is the monument to Peter I in Petrovsky Park, located directly on the embankment. You can even go to the pier and look at the sea.
