EXCURSION TO PETROPAVLOVSK FORTRESS

Dear friends! I invite you for a walk to the Peter and Paul Fortress, which is considered the birthplace of St. Petersburg.

The tour begins on the wooden John Bridge (by the way, do you know its original name? if not, we will definitely fix it). From the water you will meet the hare Arseny - a miniature monument that reminds us of the name of the island on which the fortress is located - the Hare.

The first gate of the fortress (and along with St. Petersburg) - Petrovsky - a real triumphal arch, inviting us to visit this amazing place. You will find out what the operating enterprise is on the territory of the fortress and to this day, you will hear the story of the St. Petersburg floods, one of which - the most destructive - formed the basis of A.S. Pushkin's poem "The Bronze Horseman".

We will go to the Commandant's Wharf, which will open one of the most exciting panoramas of the city. You will find out why the fortress was called the “Russian Bastille”.

At noon, you will be shot from a cannon from the walls of the Naryshkin bastion, the tradition of which goes back to Peter’s times. Cathedral Square and Peter and Paul Cathedral is the compositional center of the fortress. One of the most unusual Orthodox cathedrals in Russia, it became the tomb of the Romanov House, a detailed story about which you will hear inside its walls.
If desired, we can visit the prison of the Trubetsk Bastion, where we will talk about the most famous prisoners of the XIX - early XX centuries.
