Russian Sloboda, Foundry Part or Christmas Sloboda -

This little-studied area has many names, and each of them reflects the history of the area. In my author's route - streets with incomprehensible names: Shpalernaya, Furstatskaya, Kirochny, Druskeniksky lane. I will tell you where such place names that are unusual for the Russian ear came from and show palaces, mansions and apartment houses with unexpected architectural solutions. The area, which in the 18th century housed barracks, stables and courtyards, by the end of the 19th century turned into a prestigious and bourgeois.

You will see how the city changed in the 20th century and get acquainted with the works of architects of different eras. On the tour you will learn not only the history of this space, but also see informal modern creations of St. Petersburgers. We will find here a copy of the Hermitage, a copy of the ship of Petrovsky time, and famous cartoon characters. It's not in the guidebooks, but it will come our way.

We will pass under the hanging galleries of the famous apartment house, in which the author of the song “Me and My Masha have a samovar” lived.

We will enter the dilapidated church, whose parishioners were Faberge and Miklouho-Maclay, where discos were held in the 90s, and now there are services, fairs and exhibitions. We will see the Neva and Crosses on the other side, and remember why Anna Akhmatova stood here for 300 hours.
